REVIEW ~ Winter by Marissa Meyer
So very early Monday morning, I finished what has to be one of my top 5 books of this year! This book, of course, is Winter!!! Winter was so highly anticipated, and I'm so glad that people who read it fast didn't spoil it for me! I ended up taking almost a week to read it, between being sick and wanting to savor this amazing final book in the series!
Winter by Marissa Meyer came out last Tuesday, November 10, and it costs $22.99 to purchase the hardcover version. Please note, this book is 823 pages long, but you wouldn't know that looking at it on a shelf! (Seriously, I have it sitting next to Cress and they look the same size!)
So here is my review, in bullet point formation like I write it in my notebook! Be sure to check out my video review on Wednesday where I have my thoughts better explained!
So there you have it, this is everything I felt and thought of while reading Winter. Hopefully, I didn't spoil everything!
And now it's time for me to sit here and wait for Stars Above to come out in February. I don't think I'll be as sad finishing the novella bind-up as I was finishing Winter!
Thank you guys so much for checking out my review of Winter. Please let me know your thoughts on the book down below, or on twitter!

- I, of course, was pulled in immediately!
- It's interesting to see how Winter reacts to and feels about Levana in the start of the book
- I loved the sweet chapter between Cinder and Kai towards the beginning of the book
- The interaction between Scarlet and Winter in chapter 5 just sealed the deal on how much I was gonna love Winter
- I absolutely loved the glimpses you get of how everyone is doing towards the start of the book, there was a lot of awww moments!
- I completely shipped Winter and Jacin right from the start
- I was so absolutely done with Levana, even more than I already had been, after what she did in chapter 25, and I kept hating her more and more throughout the book
- I was quite confused by chapter 34 with Cinder's step-mother and step-sister but it was nice to have that bit of suspense
- The book went from calm to crazy in 2.5 seconds and I loved that so much! I feel like even though it was an incredibly long book, it wasn't drawn out or slow in any way!
- I was a little upset at something that happened halfway through the book, but since it was only half finished, I knew that Marissa was planning something and needed that scene to happen.
- I loved the scene with Winter and the wolf soldiers, it was so funny
- I was worried for Winter quite often through the book, but what Levana did in chapter 62 made me incredibly worried, even though I didn't think anything truly bad (cough cough death) would happen
- There were so many crazy, happy moments that had me cheering throughout this entire book
- I think my absolute favorite line from the whole book is "Broken isn't the same as unfixable." Seriously, can someone make me a bookmark with this quote???
- I seriously did not want the book to end, and started dreading it ending around the last hundred pages. Not bad dread, sad dread!
- The final battle between Cinder and her supporters (still have a hard time thinking of her as Selene!) versus Levana and her minions was epic and wild. I love how much detail Marissa put into it, and how it was some quick one chapter battle!
- The ending was absolutely perfect, but I am still incredibly sad it's over!
- I ended up giving Winter a very well deserved 5/5 stars!
So there you have it, this is everything I felt and thought of while reading Winter. Hopefully, I didn't spoil everything!
And now it's time for me to sit here and wait for Stars Above to come out in February. I don't think I'll be as sad finishing the novella bind-up as I was finishing Winter!

The Sword of Summer (Magnus Chase and The Gods of Asgard Book 1)
So I just got finished with the first book in Rick Riordan's new series, Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard. The first book is called The Sword of Summer, which is a major hint as to who Magnus' father is! Yes, this series has basically the same plot as Percy Jackson... kid finds out he's a demigod, and has to go on a quest to save the world! However, Rick Riordan makes the book interesting and different than the Percy Jackson series.
I especially loved the humor in this book, as well as the nods to the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series plus the Heroes of Olympus series! Also, Doctor Who was mentioned... major plus in my book! And can we talk about the gorgeous cover for this book??
Mr. Riordan managed to make this an extremely entertaining book, while also staying very true to Norse mythology. I was very happy about that, since I'm a huge Norse mythology fan, and while Marvel does a very entertaining version of Thor, they cut out a ton of mythology from the story! Oh yeah, the Marvelverse Thor is mentioned in this too ;)
There was exceptional character building in this for the most part, and I fell in love with Sam as well as Hearth. Marvel truly messed with me though, and I can only see Hearth as a dark elf from the Thor The Dark World movie!
The ending was awesome, and made me very excited for Fall 2016!!
The next book is going to be called The Hammer of Thor, and I already have a feeling I know who will be the main focus in that book! I seriously can't wait for the Loki book though, and there's no way there won't be one!
Oh well, time to wait a year for book 2!
I gave Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard book 1: The Sword of Summer 5/5 stars!
